WAR - Warrior Adrenaline Race is around the corner...

101 DAYS TO GO till we're doing the Warrior Adrenaline Team Race - 5km, 25 obstacles and a 20km log on our shoulders: giant steps, zip line to the tunnels and water tank, plenty of other climbing and sliding obstacles scattered along the hilly, muddy route over Dunstable Downs. The obstacles and course are designed by Ex-Army Physical Training Instructors who used similar courses to get our troops fit! Bring it on!!!

Cake Monday 13th January

We race (electronically) and the loser has to bake a cake to feed the office.
Why? because we like cake.
Who? everyone in the office. No one gets out of it.
When? 1st Monday of the month.
The rules: you make the cake yourself, without any help. You can't 'repeat' a cake. Your cake will be judged on presentation, difficulty and taste, and marked out of 10 by each colleague.

'Lemon & Orange Curd Cake' by Darren. An all-in-one cake method with home-made lemon curd (yum). The batter was easy, but the lemon curd did require 20 minutes stirring at the stove. He amalgamated two recipes (what does a Delia crossed with a Nigella make??) by adding orange into the mix. Darren cooks, but has not made a cake in years

The Verdict: smells great. A really good tasting cake. Very lemony and moist (we really need to find a new adjective). Very fluffy and the lightest and moistest cake Jamie has ever tasted. It was a favourite cake for Rosie too. Where Darren lost marks was on the cracked presentation and from being a little heavy-handed on the icing sugar dusting which caused a bit of wheezing and made it taste quite sweet. That said, this was a really respectable cake and there's not much left to go round for seconds. Let the sneaky cake eating begin.

'Lemon & Orange Curd Cake' Average Score: 7.8

Next time.......Louise is up. Hasn't made a cake since she was a child & is not sounding confident. There's not much room left on the Leader Board which means that Adam is at risk of being bumped off it.
